National Cohort Research Education (NCO)
The NCO microdata files were compiled by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) for the National Cohort Research Education (NCO). The NCO has been initiated and is funded by the National Educational Research Agency (NRO). For these files, existing register data from the social-statistical files (SSB) of CBS and existing educational records of the Education Basic Register (BRON) of the Education Implementation Service (DUO) have been combined.
The files contain only a torque key (RINPERSOON and RINPERSOONS) and are specifically intended for analysis on the transition from primary education to secondary education.
The year in the file name refers to the relevant school year YYYY/YYYY+ 1.

### Methodology
The files contain only a torque key (RINPERSOON and RINPERSOONS) and are specifically intended for analysis on the transition from primary education to secondary education. When talking about outflow, the students in grade 8 are referred to. It may happen that students stay in grade 8. In that case, they do not flow into secondary education, and cannot be found in secondary education in the following year, but only the following year. Because they do group 8 twice, they are part of two outflow cohorts.

These files contain data from the pupils who are in group eight of primary education in a given school year.
