Employment and wages of healthcare providers associated with health and welfare expenditure according to the Healthcare Accounts (from 01-01-2009)

Description

This file contains data on labour and wages from functionally classified health and welfare providers. In order to count as a provider, all activities in the field of health and well-being are taken into account, regardless of whether these activities take place as a main activity or as an ancillary activity. This data provides a description of the employment associated with health and well-being expenditure as described in the health accounts. The actors are also classified according to the health care providers classification of the System of Health Accounts. More information on how to access the data: > https://www.cbs.nl/nl-nl/onze-diensten/maatwerk-en-microdata/microdata-zelf-onderzoek-doen ### Methodology The same principles are used to ensure that employment figures are aligned with expenditure figures: The care accounts cover all care services or goods used by the end user, patient or client, including the activities for policy, management and insurance of care. Everything that precedes this, such as in the pharmaceutical industry’s production of medicines, does not count. Services and goods provided by companies and institutions that do not have care as their main activity are also covered by care bills (such as seated ambulance transport by taxi). The alignment of employment rates with expenditure figures is largely based on the integration of the healthcare unit register with the SSB. The healthcare unit register itself is the result of the integration of the General Companies Register of CBS with data from the DigiMV database, and from the registration of the Dutch Healthcare Authority with budget data from healthcare institutions that are (co-) financed by the Long-Term Care Act. Database DigiMV includes digital annual documents from (groups of) companies that are fully or partially funded through the Zorgverzekeringswet (Zvw), the Long-Term Care Act (Wlz) and the Youth Act. The figures obtained in this way are available from 2009. In order to align with the figures on healthcare expenditure, the classification of groups of providers used in the expenditure has also been followed. This means that the classification does not follow CBS’s 2008 Standard Business Classification. After all, secondary activities of companies and institutions are now also included. In addition, the use of resources on healthcare funding in compiling healthcare expenditure requires an adapted classification of healthcare providers. Complete terrain coverage is obtained through the use of the sources other than the SSB. ### Population Health care providers with activity in section Q of NACE rev.2 (Statistical classification of economic activities in the European Community) (divisions 86, 87 and 88), or belonging to the Health Care Providers class of the System of Health Accounts. It concerns each economic unit (including households) that provides care products (goods or services) to the end user, or takes care of their administration, policy, management and financing. For example, in addition to general hospitals, the prison hospital, pharmacies, internal occupational health services, health insurers and government belong to the population. The providers are grouped according to a breakdown by actors, which corresponds to or adds up to the SHA’s Health Care Providers classification plus an additional classification for well-being, childcare and social services. The activities/products are classified according to the classification of health care functions of the System of Health Accounts 2011, with a residual category covering the rest of welfare care (as defined in NACE 87 and 88).
