Pilot Health Survey: health, care use and lifestyle of the population in the Netherlands (01-01-2014-01-01-2015)

Description

This is a pilot file containing the variables of the 2014 Health Survey. The aim of the health survey is to provide as complete an overview as possible of developments in the health, medical contacts, lifestyle and preventive behaviour of the population in the Netherlands. The study consists of a sample of individuals, which are spread evenly over the months of the year. More information on how to access the data: > https://www.cbs.nl/nl-nl/onze-diensten/maatwerk-en-microdata/microdata-zelf-onderzoek-doen ### Methodology The Health Survey is based on a sample of individuals drawn from the Basic Registration of Persons (BRP). The sample is spread over the months of the year. As of 2014, the Health Survey will be in the next ‘mixed mode’; design executed. First, samplers are contacted to participate via the Internet (CAWI – Computer Assisted Web Interviewing). Non-respondents are reconnected for a face-to-face interview (CAPI – Computer Assisted Personal Interviewing). Because some question blocks are rather personal in nature, CAPI respondents can fill those questions themselves (CASI – Computer Assisted Self Interviewing). People in private households are questioned. For respondents under the age of 12, the survey questions are answered by a parent or carer. Every year, a gross sample of more than 15 thousand people is approached. With a response of 60-65 percent, this yields a net sample of about 9,500 people. For differences between the composition of the net sample and the total population, an adjustment shall be made by means of a weighting factor based on the characteristics of gender, age, origin, marital status, urbanity, province, country, household size, income, wealth and survey season. You will find more information in the study description in the annex. ### Population For the majority of subjects people aged 0 years and older in private households in the Netherlands. Some subjects have a separate age limit.
