Clients of general practice participating in Nivel Zorgregistrs Eerste Lijn (from 01-01-2018)

Description

This file contains data about people registered with general practitioners who participate in Nivel Zorgregistrs Eerste Lijn (NZR). These files can only be used within the CBS after the permission of Nivel, the use is associated with costs. External researchers can submit a data request via the Nivel website. After approval, Nivel will in most cases (for a fee) create a specific custom file that is focused on the research question. More information on how to access the data: > https://www.cbs.nl/nl-nl/onze-diensten/maatwerk-en-microdata/microdata-zelf-onderzoek-doen ### Methodology This file is in most cases used in combination with NZR disease episodes or NZR operations, which include the care content variables. The NZR registration includes a different number of general practice per year (roughly about 10 % of all Dutch general practice), with the registration holder Nivel aiming for representativeness for the Dutch population when selecting practices. The registration shall include, inter alia, data on operations and disease episodes. In addition, it contains an exit from the client administration of general practice. This file is based on this exit. Only the registered, permanent clients are included in a practice; passers-by are not part of the sample population. The file contains only those persons who are uniquely linked to the Basic Persons Registration (BRP) and have a valid RIN number (RINPERSOON=R). By using BSN pseudonyms as a couple key, almost all clients from whom a pseudonymised BSN has been supplied can be uniquely linked to the BRP. Only these uniquely connectable clients with a 1-to-1 link to the BRP are present in this end file. In addition, increased weights have been added per client for the disease episodes and operations. These elevated weights have been used to determine representative figures for the entire Dutch population for publication in StatLine tables. For each client, each practice in which he/she was registered in the reporting year is indicated which was the most early and the most late registration quarter in that year. For clients enrolled in a practice throughout the year, these variables have values 1 and 4 respectively. Furthermore, it is indicated whether the practice to which the client belongs has provided useful illness episodes and/or operations. If this is the case, any illness episodes and/or operations that a client had during the reporting year are included in the corresponding NZR episodes and operations files. As of fiscal year 2018, Nivel no longer supplied raw source files to CBS, but reprocessed files that Nivel used for its own analyses. These reworked files contain largely the same variables as the raw files, but some registration errors have already been removed from them, such as duplicate records based on the Nivel patient number. The 2018 client base includes relatively fewer clients than the files of previous years (approximately 10 % less), because the NZR practices connected to one particular General Practitioner Information System (HIS) had not yet provided data at the time of Nivel’s production of the analysis files. ### Population People who are registered with general practitioners who participate in Nivel Zorgregistrs Eerste Lijn (NZR).
