Description
Persons in the donor register. Since 2014, CBS has had data on donor registration in the Netherlands. The dates come from the donor register, where the Act on Organ Donation (Wod) has been implemented since 1998. This law provides that anyone aged 12 or over who is registered with a Dutch municipality and who is willing to register his or her choice in the field of organ donation and tissue donation. The dataset contains individual information about the Dutch population aged 12 and over. Registration in the donor register has the following options: (1) & I will make my organs and tissues available for transplantation after my death &, (2) & #039; I will not make my organs and tissues available for transplantation after my death &, (3) & #039; my partner or family decides after my death whether my organs and tissues are available for donation & (4) & #039; I leave the decision whether my organs and tissues are available for transplantation to someone else. If a person dies before the age of 16 and is registered with choice 1, the parents/guardian can revoke the registered organ donation which prevents the organ donation from continuing. However, if the deceased has indicated that they do not want to be a donor, organ donation is never possible. From 16 years of age, the parents/guardian no longer have co-determination on the registered choice when choosing 1. After the 18th birthday, everyone receives a donor form to record their choice. You must actively register as a donor. If this is not done, the partner or family decides whether they are donors or not.
