Migration characteristics of persons registered in the Municipal Basic Administration of Personal Data (GBA), coordinated (from 01-01-2018)

Description

For persons who settle in the Netherlands from abroad, the date of establishment and the country from which one comes from is recorded. For persons who settle abroad from the Netherlands, the date of departure and the country of destination is recorded. In the DPA, specific rules apply to be registered or deregistered as a migrant. See the variable migration type. As soon as a migration movement takes place, an end date (EINDEMIGRATIEDATE) is added to the record of the previous migration movement. A new record will also be added with the date of the start of the new migration movement (AANVANGMIGRATIEDATE). This file is not suitable for determining the annual number of migrations as published (once) by team Demography. There are two reasons for this: — all changes relating to past messages, which have become known in a later year, are also taken into account in older years; — messages fulfilled within demographic statistics are not always counted in the year of event but in the year of receipt. Within this bus it is not possible to distinguish this. Users who do want or need to connect to the numbers published by Team Demography are recommended to use the GBAMIGRATIEGEBEURTENISBUS file. B. In this file migration movements have been made consistent with each other. For example, if a person has previously been removed administratively and then immigrates, the previous removal is changed to an emigration (with unknown country of destination). C. As of Version 2018V1, a INDEMIGRATIATE that falls after yyyy1231 but falls before the component’s creation date is no longer removed from the component. D. In the previous version of this bus, the AANVANGMIGRATIEDATUM was put on 1 January 1995 by anyone who established themselves in the Netherlands before 1 January 1995. From version 2018v1 no longer happens. E. The variable INDMIGRATIATE shall be set from this version to 20501231 if no end date is known at the end of the observation period. ### Population Includes all persons who have ever registered in the BRP from abroad and those who have settled abroad from 1 October 1994 from the Netherlands. Contains a selection of persons who have settled abroad from the Netherlands before 1 October 1994. Think of people who settled in Canada in the 1960s and are now known in the BRP via an AOW claim. Changes starting from version 2018 of this component: — In the GBA bus components, the period described is slightly extended. Previously, information from everyone who was resident in the Netherlands from 1 January 1995 to 31 December 1995 was included. That period shall be 1 October 1994 until 31 December 1994. In addition, information from persons who have been a resident of the Netherlands before 1 October 1994 is also included where available from the BRP. — The date of the last known period was set on 31 December, but is now filled with a known date if there is already information on that date and otherwise that date will be set to 31 December 2050. As Satco, you will have to pay particular attention to whether the change in date end requires adjustments in the software that uses this variable.
