Microdata from Inward FATS consists, among other things, of turnover and size of subsidiaries in the Netherlands controlled by a foreign company.
Inward Fats (Foreign AffiliaTes Statistics) contains the microdata of subsidiaries in the Netherlands controlled by a foreign company. The data is compiled on the basis of data from existing CBS statistics (production statistics, employment statistics, investment statistics and R &D statistics) in combination with data from the Ultimate Controlling Institutional Unit (UCI) of the companies concerned.
The UCI is the unit of where the strategic decisions (e.g. appointments of directors, investments) are made for companies worldwide.

### Population
For all variables except those relating to Research and Experimental Development (R & D): — all companies in the volume framework belonging to the Business Economy (Nace Rev. 2 sections B-N excluding K, and with effect from statistical year 2010, including S95). For the variables relating to Research and Experimental Development (R & D): — all companies in the volume framework belonging to Nace Rev. 2 Sections B-F.
