More information on how to access the data: > https://www.cbs.nl/nl-nl/onze-diensten/maatwerk-en-microdata/microdata-zelf-onderzoek-doen ### Methodology The Judicial Establishment Service (DJI) provides CBS with three types of files: all persons who enter detention in a given year, all persons who are expelled from detention in a given year and all persons detained on 31 December of a given year. This file contains individuals who appear one or more times in the inflow, outflow and/or population stock of the year in question. It is possible that one person has been detained several times in one year. However, this cannot be found in this file, in which each person can only occur once. Each person has been determined what is the most serious offence for which that person has been detained in the year in question. The offences are classified on the basis of the 2010 Standard Classification of Crimes. In most cases, the most serious crime has been determined. However, a person can serve several offences within one detention. In some cases, it may happen that the most serious offence is not registered in the source files and a person is assigned a lighter crime as the most serious crime. ### Population This file contains all persons who are criminally detained in a given year. have been.
