Of these stillborn persons, the year of publication, date of birth, gender, country of birth, grouping of origin, generation, number of parents born abroad, municipality of birth, date of birth of the mother’s youngest child, date of birth of the mother’s oldest child, date of birth of the father’s oldest child, mother’s ranking number, maternal age and whether the stillborn person was born from multiple births are included. The file is part of CBS’s System of Social Statistical Files (SSB). The information in the component will in principle no longer change. More information on how to access the data: > https://www.cbs.nl/nl-nl/onze-diensten/maatwerk-en-microdata/microdata-zelf-onderzoek-doen ### Methodology This file is suitable to determine the annual number of stillborns as published by team Demography. Stillborn persons who were born in the previous year but whose birth report was not received until after the closing of the previous publication year have been added to the current publication year. Therefore, the year in the date of birth does not have to be the same as the publication year. A publication year will be closed around 15 February following the publication year. It is required by law to report a child born after a gestational period of at least 24 weeks (before July 1, 1991, 28 weeks) and who has not shown any signs of life after birth (breathing, heart action, muscle action). Still stillborns with a gestational age of less than 24 weeks are sometimes reported. These stillborns are also included in this stock. However, team demographics publishes only about dead-born children who have come into the world after a gestational period of at least 24 weeks. The stillborns must be registered in the municipal register of death after birth. Municipalities provide CBS with a counting map with the necessary statistical data. Information about stillborn persons was created through collaboration of the Demography and Health and Care teams. Please note: Not all variables are cool and may not be suitable for publishing. For the applicable variables, this is indicated in field 'Explanation under use '. ### Population All persons included in the municipal register of death in a given publication year as stillborn.
