Description

The microdata for Outward_FATS consists of all foreign subsidiaries (outside the EU-27 zone) controlled by a Dutch company. For each entity, the number of foreign subsidiaries, the number of employees and the turnover of each activity are recorded. In addition, the SBI_1993, the SBI_2008, the type of institution (financial enterprise / non-financial enterprise), the status of the record, the country of residence of the foreign subsidiary and the name of the foreign subsidiary are indicated for each record. More information on how to access the data: > https://www.cbs.nl/en-en/our-services/custom-and-microdata/microdata-self-research ### Methodology Outward_FATS is composed on the basis of: - Primary observation among the largest non-financial corporations, - Secondary observation at - Other non-financial corporations - The largest financial companies For all companies in the Netherlands it is determined in which country the UCI is located. Companies with foreign subsidiaries outside the EU-27 zone are observed through - Primary observation in large non-financial corporations by means of a questionnaire. The names of the foreign subsidiaries are largely registered. The names of the foreign subsidiary are registered in an Outward-FATS database. - Evaluation of non-financial companies on the basis of data received from the tax authorities. The names of the foreign Subsidiaries are largely registered. - Relevant analysis on financial undertakings provided by DNB. - Financial institutions are analysed on the basis of annual reports. The names of the foreign subsidiaries are: not registered. ### Population The target population of Outward_FATS consists of all companies operating in the Netherlands, whose Ultimate Controlling Institutional unit (UCI) is located in the Netherlands and for which they have subsidiaries outside the EU-27 zone.
