### Methodology
Based on the Financial Large Enterprises Statistics (SFGO), a file has been designed to eliminate the variable changes that have taken place over the years. The variables in Danflex are summations of the variables from the SFGO. The companies that have been declared cool are included. The file serves as the basis for various publications and research.
### Population
In 1977 the collection of information on Dutch companies in the industry began, followed by the trade sector in 1980. In 1983 statistics were complemented by the sectors of service and transport. In 1977 it was decided to characterise a company as large if the balance sheet total was greater than 10 million guilders. For several reasons, it has been decided to raise this lower limit to 25 million. This criterion is in principle based on the balance sheet total at the beginning of the financial year. If this cannot be determined, the selection, like the stratum determination, is based on the balance sheet total at the end of the financial year. From 1983 onwards, DANFLEX comprises all Dutch non-financial companies with a balance sheet total exceeding 25 million. From 2001 onwards, the balance sheet total has been changed to more or equal to EUR 23 million and, in 2011 the limit has been increased to more or equal to EUR 40 million.
