Description
In the Netherlands (OViN) survey participants report their movements on a predetermined day in the year. The study concerns residents of the Netherlands in private households. These are movements in the Netherlands; cross-border movements shall be cut off at the border. Holiday transfers are excluded from the investigation as well as professional travel by truck. Since 1978, CBS has been conducting research on the mobility of persons in the Netherlands. Between 1978 and 2004 this was done under the name Research Displacement Behaviour (OVG). In 2004, the implementation of the research was taken over by Rijkswaterstaat, Dienst Verkeer en Scheepvaart. The name of the study then changed to Mobility Research Netherlands (MON). As of 2010, the implementation of the mobility research has returned to the CBS, now as Research Displacements in the Netherlands (OViN). The aim of the OViN is to provide adequate information about the daily mobility of the Dutch population for the benefit of the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment and other policy and research bodies. Among other things, the information is used in the development and testing of traffic and transport policy in the Netherlands.
