Industrial waste by industry and treatment method (from 01-07-2014)
Description
This table provides information on the amount of industrial waste released.
The table shows for each respondent reporter how much it passes on to waste, and what type of substance it is. In addition, each amount of waste is indicated in the manner in which it is processed.
Industrial waste means:
The substances (materials) released into a company, which have little or no value for the holder and which they want to dispose of (Law on the Environment, Hfdst. 1, Art. 1.1).
For this study, the following are excluded:
— radioactive waste,
— hazardous waste reported to the National Waste Report Centre,
— construction and demolition waste,
— incineration residues from own waste incineration and
— substances discharged with waste water or emitted into the air.
Industrial wastes are classified by types of waste according to Eural codes. These are codes for waste as mentioned in the European Waste List.

### Methodology
In the same years, a written survey is carried out on a sample of the population. The sample is stratified by business class by farm size. Companies with size classes 10 to 30 (companies with fewer than 10 employees) are not credited but are estimated.
In an odd reporting year, individual reporters are asked for the main waste streams. The other
quantities shall be based on the results of the previous year. These results are adjusted according to the evolution in production by industry. For this purpose, the Production index (see industrial production index (SBI 2008) from 1953, index 2010=100, of statline is used).
The included elevation factor is used to determine the estimate for the entire population.

Companies in mineral extraction, industry, energy supply and water extraction with one or more employees.
