### Methodology
The file is of the bus type. For a bus, dates are linked to states (the entity’s attribute values set). If the state of an entity changes, a new record is created with the initial validity of the date on which the change in attribute values occurred. The old record is then closed by filling the final validity. The data is primarily derived from the Income Production System (IPS). The file is ultimately based on declarations of income from other labour. These are always annual amounts. For persons who have died during the year, the date of death is the end date. Because information about the commencement and termination date of the other activities is not available via the Income Tax, these are imputated.
The imputation essentially amounts to the following:
For persons who have also worked as an employee during the year but whose job ended during the year, it is assumed that the remaining work was earned after the job ended. In other words, after job termination, the person continued with other work. If it is possible that the person has earned the amount of other work by working 1 hour per week (based on the estimated hourly wage of the previous job) during the period following job termination, it is assumed that the entire period after job termination has been worked. If this is not plausible, the period shall be shortened and randomly placed in the period after job termination. For persons with other work who have been active as an employee throughout the year, it shall be verified whether they have earned the amount of other work on the basis of the hourly wage of the employee’s job by working at least one hour per week for 52 weeks. If the latter is the case, it is assumed that the person had income from other employment throughout the year. Otherwise, the period will be shortened and randomly placed in the year. For persons who did not have a job as an employee during the year, the profit as an independent entrepreneur or the minimum hourly wage is estimated whether the person can have earned the amount by working at least one hour per week for 52 weeks. If possible, it is assumed that the person has had income from other employment throughout the year. If this is not plausible, the period will be shortened and randomly placed in the year.
### Population
The population of the bus component consists of all persons who have reported income from other employment through income tax. In addition, as of reporting year 2011, persons who belonged to the population of the Netherlands on 1 January of the year
