More information on how to access the data: > https://www.cbs.nl/nl-nl/onze-diensten/maatwerk-en-microdata/microdata-zelf-onderzoek-doen ### Methodology Derivation of the total amounts is necessary because of the amounts in the source file it is not always clear whether it is a real loan (which should not be included in this component) or a provisional loan which, when the rules applicable to a performance grant are met, is converted into a gift. For the years 1999-2005, the total amount of debt accumulated in the calendar year, as indicated in the source stock, has shifted to the total component variable exchange in the case of tempo or performance exchange. The reason for this is that the amount of debt in the source file in these cases usually includes the amount of exchange. This is due to the fact that, in the event of insufficient study progress, the scholarship becomes/remains a loan. The amount of basic exchange and supplementary exchange is therefore often at 0 in the source file. ### Population Persons, including persons who do not belong to the population of the Netherlands, who have been registered in the WSF file (Study Financing Act) of the IB Group (Information Management Group) in the relevant year.
