Traffic indices on provincial roads based on length of the counting area and intensity per counting point. (01-01-2009 - 01-01-2011)
Description
At approximately 690 locations on the provincial road network, the number of vehicles passed by are registered 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. In this way, road managers (provincial water management services) determine each year the number of motor vehicles passed (i.e. traffic intensity) on an average working day and an average weekday. CBS compares these traffic intensities per counting point with the corresponding values of that counting point of previous year. For a good and weighted comparison of the development of traffic at a counting point, the length of the counting area in which this counting location is located shall be weighted. The vehicle-kilometres thus calculated are grouped by province and part of the country. The comparison of these values over time is the traffic index of which the base year 2000 = 100.
