Map of the particularly erosion-prone runways
Description
After a heavy raining event, the rainwater running on the ground surface temporarily concentrates in naturally existing runways (deep lines) of the relief and leads to deep erosion in an unprotected soil. The map of the erosion-prone runways highlights sites that are subject to particularly high erosion hazards due to relief-related discharge concentrations. The shape to the runways borders on agricultural areas, runways that are at least 0.3 ha in size. Around 10.000 ha of the runways are located on agricultural land, of which 5.100 ha are used for agriculture. The derivation of the sites is based on the evaluations of ABAG and the relief parameter “grid-related catchment area size”. By linking both situations, the erosive effect of the discharge concentration can be derived qualitatively. Especially erosion-prone runways should be protected from erosion by a permanent vegetation cover.
