Estonian Marine Strategy Framework Directive modelled habitat types (EELIS)
Description
Map layer of distribution of the main types of seabed habitats in accordance with the Marine Strategy Framework Directive. According to the MSFD (EU Commission Decision 2017/848), seabed habitats had not been mapped in Estonia before 2017. Therefore, modelling has been used to create this layer, based on the available monitoring results of national environmental monitoring and relevant projects. Inventories as of 2017 covered about one third of the entire Estonian marine area, so when using the data, it must be remembered that this is a modelled distribution layer.
Geographical coverage: Baltic Sea, Estonia EEZ.
The database is part of the Estonian Nature Information System (EELIS).
