Description
This metadata refers to a dataset with the annual use of water measured in m3 per capita with data from 335 European cities. The measured values referring to years between 2004 and 2012. The data on the water consumption was obtained from Eurostat with city controids from Urban Audit 2011-2014.
Many locations in Europe are already affected by droughts and water scarcity; for many of those, and other places, these phenomena will intensify and become more problematic in the future. Understanding the water demand in the city is important to comprehend the presence and scale of the water availability problem and adapt to it in the future (Tapai et al (2017), DOI:10.1016/j.ecolind.2017.02.040)
