REDIAM. WMS Protected areas in the Andalusian Mediterranean Basins river basin district: Water catchment areas for supply (PH 2009-2015)
Description
WMS service for water abstraction areas for supply designated in accordance with Article 7 of the WFD under which all bodies of water used for the abstraction of water intended for human consumption providing on average more than 10 m3 per day or supplying more than 50 persons must be specified. In the demarcation there are 319 surface catchments for supply of more than 10m3/day, of which 238 are catchments in springs, 32 are intakes of rivers, 17 galleries, 15 intakes of reservoirs, 15 of azudes and 2 of dams. In groundwater there are 563 abstractions for supply of more than 10 m3/day, of which 499 are boreholes and 64 are wells. Protection perimeters have been defined in Sites of Hydrogeological Interest and in groundwater abstractions located outside water bodies. Safeguard zones have also been delimited for the protection of feeding and recharging areas for the abstractions for human consumption identified in those groundwater bodies that provide a daily average of more than 100 m3.
