Truck priority route network (WFS service)
Description
Air pollution, noise and safety risks are often current buzzwords when it comes to truck traffic, especially in cities. The focus is often on heavy truck traffic, which is handled by semi-trailers and trucks. The goal is to keep this traffic away from the sensitive local locations and to shift it to efficient routes between the federal trunk roads and motorways and the local commercial areas.
The state capital Dresden has had a truck priority route network since 2008. The system is based on assigning each motorway junction in the area of the state capital Dresden a group of (nearest) business parks and locations and then transporting the trucks to and from the motorway or business park via specially designated routes in the shortest and most local and environmentally friendly way possible.
