Description
Preliminary age structure of the population of Espoo by quarter and region as of 31 December 2015. Contains preliminary data on the permanent resident population of the municipality by age. Preliminary information is produced approximately two weeks after the event date.
When compiling the final population data, all the previous year's change data received into the Population Information System of the Digital and Population Data Services Agency by the end of January will be taken into account.
The change since the beginning of the year has been calculated from the final population.

**Target Set and Crop**
Population means the population permanently resident in a municipality. Persons who according to the Population Information System maintained by the Digital and Population Data Services Agency (DVV, until 2019 the Population Register Centre) have their domicile in a municipality at the turn of the year belong to the population regardless of their nationality, as do those Finnish citizens who live temporarily abroad.
A foreign national is domiciled in a municipality if his or her stay is intended to last or has lasted at least one year. An asylum seeker will not be granted a place of residence until his or her application has been approved.
Persons residing in the municipality who are members of a foreign embassy, a commercial mission or an office of a posted consul, as well as their family members and personal servants, do not belong to the municipality's population unless they are Finnish citizens. The Finnish personnel of Finnish embassies and commercial missions abroad, as well as those serving in the UN peacekeeping forces, are counted among the population of the municipality.
**Territorial classification**
In population and labour force statistics, the category 'others' includes population not recorded in the regions. These include persons without a permanent residence in a municipality, persons without a permanent residence, persons working in Finnish embassies and similar, persons temporarily staying abroad, persons belonging to the crew at sea, persons confined to a penal or other institution, persons admitted to a hospital, etc., persons absent due to studies or illness, and persons absent due to a short-term employment relationship or occasional stay. In workplace statistics, the group "Others" includes persons whose workplace location information is missing. In this case, the person is attached to his or her municipality of residence.

The data for Espoo are from 31 December 2015.
**Reliability of data**
Information on the place of residence of the persons is received into the Population Information System through the notification of move.
