Helsinki’s culturally significant staircases
Description
An inventory of the most culturally significant staircases in Helsinki, produced by the Helsinki City Museum.
The material includes basic information on buildings, designers of buildings, verbal descriptions of the space, structures and fixed interiors of the staircases, as well as information on the preservation of staircases. A detailed description of the material can be found in the Word file attached to the material.
The location of the buildings is based on both their addresses and coordinate points. The coordinate system of the data is ETRS-GK25.
The inventory of staircases includes 19th-century residential staircases in the inner city, 20th and 1910s staircases in Punavuori and Kamppi, as well as Töölö staircases from the 1920s to 30s. The inventories were carried out in 2009-2011. The most valuable staircases from a cultural and architectural point of view are included.
