ROCK - The sustainability of events

Interviews given to the organisers of cultural events on the theme of sustainability.EvidenceAs regards the central theme of the survey, the operators interviewed demonstrate a strong sensitivity to the theme of sustainability, declined in its many aspects, but at the same time demonstrate significant differences in approach depending on the area considered. The theme of sustainability is integrated into the way almost all events are designed, organised and implemented: for almost 60% it is very (44.8%) or completely (13.8%), for almost no one it is little or not at all. As regards the various declinations of the term ‘sustainability’, the attention is very strong with regard to diversity and equality (‘very’ or ‘completely’ taken into account in the design and implementation of the event in 96.3% of cases), health and safety (86.2%), accessibility (85.7%), waste management (75.9%); On the other hand, there is significantly less consideration for issues such as energy (24.1%), transport and logistics (40.0%), the impact on travel (43.3%), water use (48.2%), but often not so much because of a lack of sensitivity or culture on the subject, but because of economic or logistical obstacles that are not easy to overcome.
