In Bologna the experience of vegetable gardens was born in the eighties with the aim of promoting the use of free time in activities that promote socialization, with moments of meeting, discussion and social life that enhance the potential of initiative and self-organization of people, in particular the elderly.The creation and management of vegetable areas over the years has been an important experience rooted in the activity of the districts, with a strong social function, which the municipal administration has always valued.
