EU Bird Sanctuaries (VSG) in Lower Saxony
Description
Digital national overview map of the geometries of all Lower Saxony EU bird sanctuaries. Pursuant to Article 4 of the EC Birds Directive (79/409/EEC), the Member States (in the Federal Republic of Germany the Länder) are obliged to declare the most suitable areas in terms of area and number for species listed in Annex I to the Directive (Article 4(1)) and for migratory bird species (Article 4(2)) as Special Protection Areas (SPAs) and to notify them to the European Commission as part of the ecologically networked Natura 2000 protected area system. The digital map shows all currently suitable areas in Lower Saxony designated as EU bird protection areas.This data is also available in the INSPIRE data model ‘Annex 1: protected areas’. The delivery takes place via display and download service, whose URLs are specified in the transfer options.
