Description
The base surface of the Zechstein reflects the structure of the underlying mountain range. The disturbance pattern is therefore similar to that of the base surface of the upper red lying, but not all disturbances extend to the zechstone. High altitudes of the Zechstein base are often disturbed and extend east and west of a central depression and structurally related along a NE to NNE stroke zone. Uncertainties in interpretation exist above all below steeply towering salt structures.
