Groundwater permits (historical and current)
Description
Permits granted for the extraction of groundwater can be visualized and questioned in the Database Subsurface Flanders. Permits have been granted under VLAREM legislation since 1999. They are classified in Classes 1, 2 or 3, with a licence requirement for Classes 1 and 2 and a notification requirement for Class 3. The classification list can be found in VLAREM I (groundwater extraction is included under heading 53). Older applications have been granted according to the Groundwater Decree. These are classified in categories A, B and C.
