Vulnerable neighbourhoods
Description
Neighbourhoods with relatively more vulnerable elderly people and lower liveability scores are more vulnerable to the risks of climate change such as flooding and heat stress. The map shows vulnerable neighbourhoods based on a combination of livability, health and climate risks (water nuisance and heat stress).
It is important to know that the map gives only an indicative picture of vulnerable neighbourhoods for the whole of the Netherlands, with a limited number of indicators taken into account. In addition, it is good to realise that ‘neighborhood’ is still relatively high a scale to determine exactly where climate interventions have the most impact. The map should be used primarily as a first pre-selection of relevant neighbourhoods.
