Coastal monitoring: chemical contaminants
Description
Data on chemical contaminants in the marine environment have been developed under the WFD. In particular, measured levels of acenaphthene, acenaphthene, silver, anthracene, benzo(a)anthracene, benzo(a)pyrene, bezon(b)fluoranthene, benzo(g,h,i)perylene, benzo(k)fluoranthene, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), cadmium are found.
Quadrige brings together the main networks for monitoring the quality of the coastal marine environment participating in the WFD, including for chemical data:
The ROCCH (formerly the RNO): Network for the Observation of Chemical Contaminants in the Quality of the Marine Environment,
The RSL: Lagoon Monitoring Network that carries out both biological and chemical monitoring on Mediterranean lagoons,
RINBIO: BIOlogical Integrators Network. The main objective of this network is the evaluation and monitoring of chemical contamination levels in Mediterranean coastal waters from assays carried out on mussels in artificial stations.
There are also several regional surveillance networks, health surveillance networks such as networks operated by partners for a specific purpose (Maritime Ports Network for example).
