Digital 3D city model Braunschweig

Description

The digital 3D city model Braunschweig describes the surface in digital form and enables the virtual representation of existing or planned buildings in different levels of detail from the block model (LOD1) to pronounced roof landscapes (LOD2) to detailed landmarks (LOD3). The 3D city model is primarily used to visualise the building or city structure. On its basis, there are many possible applications. In 2016, a new comprehensive 3D city model with LoD2 level of detail was created for the entire city of Braunschweig with about 90,000 buildings. In addition to aerial images with a ground resolution of 10 cm and data from the digital city ground map and the land register altitude data from a laser scan flight of the city area are the basis. From the data obtained, a digital terrain model (DGM), which describes the terrain surface of Braunschweig, as well as a digital surface model (DOM = terrain surface and buildings) is created.
