Temperature observations on Turku (TURCLIM)

Description

TURCLIM is a research project of the Department of Geography and Geology at the University of Turku, with a network of 75 temperature and humidity meters. Temperature maps have been produced with the help of TURCLIM weather observations, altitude model, SLICES land use classification, CORINE classification and linear regression model of the Geography Department of the University of Turku as part of the ongoing multi-disciplinary HERCULES project funded by the Academy of Finland. The dataset contains two temperature maps and an observation table. Temperature maps have been produced on the basis of temperatures of 70 observation points. In the January map, the environmental factors have taken into account the relative surface area of the waters within a 2 km radius, the relative area of urban land use within a radius of 700 metres and the height of the site compared to the average height of the nearest 100 m. The map of July takes into account the corresponding environmental factors within a radius of 1.5 km, 700 metres and 200 metres. Temperature maps can be viewed in the southwestern data map service, or they can be downloaded as vector files to your own computer for various spatial data analysis. The table contains the 2009 raw data on temperature observations collected in the TURCLIM city climate project. The table contains in its own tabs the temperature measurements of the observation points and the coordinates of the observation points.
