Poultry farming (Pute, duck, goose) in Germany
Description
This resource includes nationwide information on farmed domestic poultry breeds of turkey, duck and goose, and local associations for poultry farming. The database is based on the specialist database for animal genetic resources in Germany (TGRDEU) in the small animal sector poultry. The privately organised poultry breeding in Germany is mainly organised by the Bundesverband Deutscher Rassegeflügelzüchter e.V. (BDRG) and outside the BDRG in associations such as the Society for the Conservation of Old and Endangered Pet Breeders (GEH). The BDRG was commissioned by the Federal Institute for Agriculture and Food (BLE) to collect data within the framework of a contract in 2013. The survey was used to develop an overall concept of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) to coordinate conservation activities of animal genetic resources in Germany.
