Description
Every six years, the European Union and its Member States shall draw up a report on the state of habitat types and species of Community interest in accordance with Article 17 of the Habitats Directive. In preparation for the Article 17 report, the Federal Environment Agency carried out database searches and field surveys for the habitat types and species of the Habitats Directive occurring in Austria on behalf of the federal states in the years 2016-2018. A total of 5,560 sample areas were examined for the presence and conservation status of 31 habitat types and 38 species. 140 experts were involved in the surveys. The report presents the methodology and results in detail. The results of this monitoring were reported to the European Commission in the report under Article 17 of the Habitats Directive in 2019.
