Environmental damage costs of different home heating technologies
Description
Heating your home with wood is much more harmful to the environment than all other types of heating. Fireplaces are the crowning glory, but recent wood appliances are also a lot more harmful than, for example, modern gas installations. Wood as heating fuel accounts for 60% of all direct environmental damage costs, although only 20% of Flemish households use wood. Heat pumps and networks have the lowest damage costs. The VMM commissioned this study as a contribution to the Green Deal Household Wood Heating.
