Schedule and position data on passenger ferries trafficking between Helsinki and Tallinn
Description
The dataset contains monitoring data collected during the FinEst Smart Mobility project (5 April 2018–15 March 2019) on passenger vessels Finlandia, Star, Megastar and Silja Europa operating between the West Harbour of Helsinki and the Port of Tallinn.
The data includes the position, speed, direction, scheduled departure and arrival times, actual departure and arrival times and estimated departure and arrival times of the vessels.
The data is based on data from the then Finnish Transport Agency's Digitraffic AIS service and it combines Eckeröline and Tallink-Silja scheduling data as well as the scheduling monitoring and forecasting data developed by Fleetrange Oy in the project. The data comprises a total of 4,388 trips between Helsinki and Tallinn or Tallinn and Helsinki and approximately 14 million data points over a period of 339 days.
Spatial data is in WGS84 format (dd.ddddd). All times are UTC. The character set of the CSV file is UTF-8.

- updated: the update time of that line;
- Ship: name of vessel
- imo: IMO number of the ship
- lat: Latitude (dd.dddd)
- long: longitude (ddd.dddd)
- Sog: Speed over ground
- cog: Course Over Ground
- HDG: Heading
- depPort: UNLOCODE EETLL or FIHEL at the port of departure
- etdSchedule: scheduled departure time of the shipping company
- etd: FinEstAPI predicted departure time
- atd: Actual time of departure of the ship
- arrPort: UNLOCODE EETLL or FIHEL at the port of entry
- etaSchedule: Scheduled time of arrival
- eta: Predicted time of arrival
- ata: actual time of arrival
