INSPIRE-WMS Soil / Base saturation in effective root space BB
Description
The interoperable INSPIRE WMS is a display service that displays data in the annex schema ground (derived from the original dataset: base saturation in the effective root space Brandenburg). It gives an overview of the base saturation in the effective root space in the state of Brandenburg. This map is based on the legend units of the soil overview map with assignment of parameterized surface soil shapes. These represent a soil-forming society per unit of legend. Parameters were applied to the individual soil forms, including pH and KAK values, which were determined by field and laboratory tests. Same horizon-substrate combinations were combined and parameters (such as pH and KAK values) were statistically derived (usually the median value). The base saturation in the effective root space was derived with and without the support horizons. For different results for the soil forms of a legend unit, the area-dominant and the subdominant classified values were given (see table according to Hennings 2000, linking rule 2.4). According to the INSPIRE data specification Soil (D2.8.III.3_v3.0), the contents of the ground map are INSPIRE-compliant. The WMS contains the following layers:
- SO.baseSaturationInRootZoneDepth: Base saturation is the percentage of effective cation exchange capacity (KAKeff) absorbed by the cations Ca2+, Mg2+, K+, and Na+. The reference depth is the effective root space that describes the potential extraction depth of soil water available to plants.
- SO.baseSaturationInRootZoneDepthWithOrganicSurfaceLayer: Base saturation is the percentage of effective cation exchange capacity (KAKeff) absorbed by the cations Ca2+, Mg2+, K+, and Na+. The reference depth is the effective root space that describes the potential extraction depth of the soil water available to plants, including the organic layer.
- SO.SoilBody: Delimited and homogeneous part of the floor covering with respect to certain soil characteristics and/or spatial patterns.

The compliant INSPIRE-WMS Soil is a view service that delivers data in the annex schema Soil (derived from the original data set: Base saturation in the root zone depth range Brandenburg). It provides an overview of the base saturation in the effective root zone in Brandenburg. This map is based on the legend units of the soil map with corresponding assignment of parameterized soil forms. These represent one soil form society per legend unit. The single soil forms were assigned with parameters, including the pH and CEC values, which were determined by field and laboratory investigations. Identical horizon-substrate combinations were summarised and the corresponding parameters (such as pH and CEC values) were statistically derived (usually the median value). The base saturation in the effective root zone was derived with and without surface layers. In the case of different results for the soil forms of a legend unit, the area dominant and the area sub-dominant classified values are displayed (see table according to Hennings 2000, method 2.4). The content of the soil map is compliant to the INSPIRE data specification for the annex theme Soil (D2.8.III.3_v3.0). The WMS includes the following layers:
- SO.baseSaturationInRootZoneDepth: Base saturation indicates the percentage of the effective cation exchange capacity (KAKeff) that is taken up by cations Ca2+, Mg2+, K+ and Na+. Reference Depth is the effective root zone depth, which describes the potential extraction depth of plant-available soil water.
- SO.baseSaturationInRootZoneDepthWithOrganicSurfaceLayer: Base saturation indicates the percentage of the effective cation exchange capacity (KAKeff) that is taken up by cations Ca2+, Mg2+, K+ and Na+. Reference Depth is the effective root zone depth, which describes the potential extraction depth of plant-available soil water, including the organic surface layer.
- SO.SoilBody: Part of the soil cover that is delineated and that is homogeneous with regard to certain soil properties and/or spatial patterns.
