Sediment balance index (10 m grid)
Description
The sediment balance index is calculated according to BÖHNER & SELIGE (2006) from the combination of different relief parameters. Parameters of soil (soil type), precipitation or land cover are not taken into account in the application. The calculation is based on the basic idea of the LS factor of the USLE (WISCHMEIER & SMITH 1978). The slope slope is integrated via an equivalent of the sediment transport index (STIS). The slope length flows in via exponent values for flat slopes (SCHWERTMANN et al. (1990). The sedimentation index thus describes a relative potential of the relief for removal (index -4 to <1) or accumulation (index >1 to 4.5) of soil material. Further developments are carried out by MÖLLER et al. (2008) is described.
