Accident when handling and transporting water-hazardous substances
Description
Data on accidents involving and transporting water pollutants are collected on the basis of the Environmental Statistics Act (UStatG), last amended on 16.8.2005 (ยง 9). An accident within the meaning of this survey occurs when a water-hazardous substance (including operating materials) exits during transport or from installations and their safety equipment and thus, at least to a small extent, causes accident consequences and subsequent emergency measures. Any possible water hazard of a substance that is released uncontrolled from the area of a plant or during transport to the environment already fulfils the event of an accident. Since 1996, in addition to storage accidents, accidents in the manufacture, treatment, use, filling and handling (including internal transport) of water-hazardous substances have been the subject of the survey since 1996. Accidents involving vehicles (cars, trucks, silo and tankers, ships, railways and aircraft) as well as incidents involving pipelines are accidents in the transport of such substances. The results are only limited in comparison with the surveys carried out before 1996 due to some changes in characteristics.
