Description
Sentinel-1 satellites provide images in the C-band radar range, which corresponds to a wavelength of 5.5 cm. Due to the large wavelength and the active sending of radar beams, the satellites provide images regardless of the weather and the time of day. As a result, and with a scanning width of 250 km, they are well suited for detecting water or flood areas, which is represented by the temporary water surfaces in the Copernicus portal.
