Wetlands and moors (GAEC 2)
Description
The basis for the development of the specialist scenery wetlands and moors (GLÖZ 2) is § 11 GAPKondV. Subsequently, the designation of the area backdrop is carried out on the basis of the best available data. For the Free State of Saxony, this is due to the detailed scale (1 : 5,000) on the one hand, the digitized area data of the soil estimation. However, these are currently only available for about 90 percent of the agricultural area and their topicality must be questioned due to the age of the recordings. On the other hand, for the purpose of designation, the comprehensive ground map on a scale of 1: 50,000 (BK50) and the ground concept map used to create it on a scale of 1: 25,000 (BKKonz). However, due to the much smaller scale compared to the soil estimation data, wetlands and peatlands can either be missing (due to too small area size) or significantly larger (so that can be represented in this scale) due to the aggregation of legend units. Taking into account the advantages and disadvantages of the three card bases, a combined approach was adopted for the Free State of Saxony. This indicates moorland areas where the soil types referred to in Section 11 GAPKondV are mapped in one of the three data bases. As the soil estimation data show, for example, peatlands in areas where soils tilted according to BK50 (mining follow-on soils) are located, all areas marked as tilted soils in the current BK50 have been removed from the backdrop.
