Description

The data set contains the forest areas in the Free State of Saxony designated as water protection areas and healing spring conservation areas without their protection zones according to the Saxon Water Act (SächsWG). Water protected areas are intended to protect the public water supply from adverse effects such as the entry of soil components, fertilisers and plant treatment agents into water and groundwater. Healing springs are naturally exposed or artificially developed water resources, which, due to their chemical composition, physical properties or experience, are suitable for healing purposes. The state-recognised healing springs are to be protected by the designation of sanctuary areas. The data is used for the forest function map 1:25,000 of Saxony.
