When the Nord-Ostsee Canal — the flagship construction project of the German Reich — was opened after eight years of construction by Emperor Wilhelm II on 21 June 1895, ships from 14 nations and 50 German war boats with salute shots welcomed it. A selection of ships that honoured the Emperor during the Fleet Revue this day can be found in this album.
