Potential additional water demand for the 30-year period 2021-2050, no-climate change scenario (RCP8.5) (WMS service)
Description
The map shows the average potential additional water demand (in mm) for the 30-year period 2021-2050 under the ‘no climate change mitigation’ scenario (RCP8.5).
Auxiliary water demand is the average amount of water within the growing season (April-September), which is required to maintain 40% usable field capacity (nFK) in the effective root space (nFKWe). The average amount of water is calculated for an average of the fruit types winter wheat, winter barley, winter barley with catch crop, summer barley, corn, sugar beet and potatoes.
The climate models are driven by the no-climate scenario (RCP8.5). This is a scenario of the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), which describes a continuous increase in global greenhouse gas emissions, which causes an additional radiative forcing of 8.5 watts per m2 compared to pre-industrial levels by the end of the 21st century.
The results of all climate models are equally likely. Therefore, in addition to the mean, which shows a trend, the upper (maximum) and lower (minimum) edge of the result bandwidth can also be retrieved via the MapTip.
