Population by migration status, gender and age groups

Description

The number of inhabitants with a main residence in the city of Bremen with a migrant background as a whole and by gender, age groups (8 age groups) and migration status as well as population without a migrant background is presented.The figures are estimated from various data derived from the population registration register using the KOSIS programme “Migra-Pro” and adapted to the basic values of the population update (continuation of the population status of official statistics agreed between the Länder). Migration background: Foreigners, naturalised Germans and emigrants are grouped into persons with a migrant background. In addition, German children under the age of 18, for whom even this migrant background is not recognisable, but at least one parent has a migrant background, take over the corresponding assignment of the parent (citizens if parents foreigners or naturalised or emigrants). In the case of migration status, a distinction can be made: Foreigners (non-Germans) are all persons of exclusively foreign or unexplained nationality and stateless persons residing in the territory concerned. The non-German refugees present, who have the status of a homeless foreigner or foreign refugee, are among the foreigners. Persons who are treated as persons with German nationality under the Basic Law (Article 116(1)), e.g. displaced persons and refugees of German nationality, count as Germans. Persons who have a further nationality in addition to the German are also considered Germans. The census did not include the members of foreign stationing forces as well as foreign diplomatic and consular missions and their family members. The Federal Statistical Office of Bremen is responsible for the official statistics of the State of Bremen. Central tasks are the collection, preparation, evaluation and publication of the statistics ordered by law or regulation. At the same time, the Bremen Statistical Office fulfils the functions of the Municipal Statistical Office for the City of Bremen. This means that data and information will also be prepared and made accessible for the small-scale administrative and planning units of the city.
