The defended areas are set out in the Ordinance on special conditions for carrying out the activities of water exploration works and other hydrogeological works, preventive, regular and extraordinary flood protection, and the management of detailed structures for melioration drainage and water works for irrigation (Official Gazette 83/10). The defended area is the basic territorial unit for flood protection.
