REDIAM. WMS HIC 9240 Iberian oaks of Quercus faginea and Quercus canariensis
Description
WMS service corresponding to Habitat of Non-Priority Community Interest 9240, which includes the Iberian and North African forests dominated by Quercus faginea, Quercus canariensis or Quercus afares. It also highlights the importance of the wet formations of the Iberian southwest, unique in Europe and with great biological importance. In the Iberian Peninsula there are only formations of Q. faginea or Q. canariensis. In Andalusia, other formations closely related to them have been included in this habitat, in addition to the quejigares, but that are not strictly dominated by the quejigo, the acerales and the avellanedas, given their scarce distribution and interest.
The physionomic and ecological variability of the communities included determined their division into three subtypes that differ by their dominant species, proposing, in the case of acerals and hazelnuts, their treatment as priority HIC in our community.
