Description
The Basic Block Map (BBK) is a geodata base (basic map) specially developed for Dresden, which maps the small and coarse-scale division of the urban area of the state capital Dresden into so-called gross/net blocks. Starting from road edges of the road node network 1:5000 (SKN5), boundaries and selected waters (Elbe and standing waters larger than 10000 m2) as well as dividing lines (e.g. border of a railway area), the individual blocks are formed according to administrative, statistical and settlement-structural aspects.
Since 1992, the Dresden urban area has been hierarchically divided into city districts (formerly local offices) and localities for statistical, urban planning and administrative purposes. Further subdivision is made into districts. As a result of the incorporations of 1997 and 1999, 9 villages were created in addition to the city districts, to which 7 new districts were assigned.
