Description
This data is standardised for the provincial delivery INSPIRE. In groundwater protection areas, groundwater is protected for the purpose of extraction for the public drinking water supply (Water Management Plan). Groundwater protection areas are part of the environmental protection areas with vulnerable functions and values (Environmental Policy Plan). Remarks: Groundwater protection areas are a combination of wetlands with (usually around) 25-year zones. Fryslân has no drilling-free zones. However, there is a ban on drilling within groundwater protection areas, except for drilling necessary for water extraction. This prohibition may be waived.
