Vahti Guide 2005/2 Handling of Government e-mails
Description
The guide is primarily aimed at ministries, government agencies and institutions, but it is also applicable in other organisations. The recommendations are intended to serve as a basis for e-mail policy and as a basis for practical operational guidelines. The guide has focused on the relationship between the state employer and the employee. Employee means a person employed by a public authority, regardless of the type of employment.
The recommendation includes the creation and guidance of e-mail access policies. Confidentiality and prohibition of exploitation should be emphasised. The use of e-mail must be prepared in cooperation with the personnel and the applicable procedures should be communicated. It is recommended to use as many organisational addresses as possible (kirjaamo@organisaatio.fi) and to limit the use of personal email addresses to specific functions. (29.9.2011)
